Employers across the UK have welcomed the decision to extend the furlough scheme, also known as the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), until the end of March 2021.
This will help businesses to protect jobs by offering a subsidised wage equivalent to 80 per cent of an employee’s normal wage, up to a limit of £2,500, for the time not worked, with associated National Insurance and Workplace Pension contributions paid by the employer.
The latest version of the scheme also includes new rules that prevents the use of CJRS funding for statutory notice periods and will allow HMRC to publish the details of businesses that use the financial support.
